Clik here to view. You know all those dads who scream at the referees at their kids' soccer games? Well, here's the celeb version of that. Sean Combs, A.K.A. Diddy, was arrested after a fight with a UCLA coach. His son's coach. He's been charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, one count of making terrorist threats (WHAT?) and one count of battery.
According to TMZ, the incident took place at UCLA campus, where Diddy's son Justin plays football, and involved the strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi. Supposedly Alosi was "riding Justin badly" at practice (with Diddy in attendance) and had told him not to return until the end of summer.
Now here's where the accounts differ, depending on who is telling the story. Sources from Diddy's side say he acted in self defense. They say Alosi kept telling Diddy to leave and then attacked the father with his hands when the furious he refused to leave. Supposedly Diddy held up a kettle ball in a defensive position.
Sources from UCLA say Diddy confronted Alosi while he was on the phone and the coach told him to wait. Instead, Diddy picked up a kettle ball and started to swing it.
TMZ also reports that UCLA staff call Diddy a "helicopter dad" for the way he "hovers" at practices. Oh Daddy!
Poor Justin -- his dad making a big scene at football practice. On one hand, I know kids appreciate having their parents' support and enthusiasm behind whatever they do. But there are limits -- and you have to allow your kids to manage their own challenges without getting involved.
Diddy! You may be a successful mogul but you need to let your son struggle without meddling. That's what's going to make him stronger! Ugh, I hope this all gets sorted out without affecting Justin's athletic career.
Do you ever worry about your husband "going Diddy" on a coach or referee?
