Don't you wish you could get shopping and wardrobe advice from your husband? If only he had the impeccable taste -- and the obsession -- that George Clooney does. It sounds like Clooney helps style his wife, Amal.
A source tells Us magazine, "George is very involved in selecting her looks. He’ll watch her try on clothes and will say, ‘I like that. You should get it,’ or ‘No, not that.'" Wow, it sounds like Alamuddin has got a lover and a girlfriend all in one man! That's ... awesome and also kind of weird at the same time?
And then there's the closet: "He installed a runway, floor-to-ceiling mirrors, and a crazy light system" in their Studio City, Los Angeles home. “Amal can see every single angle and tell if her outfit is see-through!” Hmm, someone is trying to stay one step ahead of the paparazzi. Clever -- makes you wonder how many other celebs have the same setup.
So, does Alamuddin find any of this, oh, you know, oppressive or micromanaging? Nope! Supposedly she loves it. “She shops a lot because she needs her lawyer looks and then street clothes," quoth the source. (Although I'd like to point out that technically her lawyer look is comprised of a long, black robe and a woolly wig.)
More from The Stir: I Let My Husband Dictate How I Dress & Wear My Hair
Okay, I'll admit, I do welcome feedback on my wardrobe from my boyfriend. I'll ask him his opinions on my choices -- and he'll ask for my opinions on his, too. But I wouldn't say he's "very involved" in selecting my looks.
It's funny. There's a fine line there, you know? Women want their significant others to think they look beautiful and sexy, and a lot of us will ask for their preferences sometimes. But the idea of your man acting as your stylist kind of takes the sexual charge out of the relationship. It sounds a bit controlling and a bit like Prince. Ever heard of his song, "If I Was Your Girlfriend"? Yeah, most women don't want their husband to be their girlfriend, too.
Would you like your husband to be this involved in your wardrobe?
