A tattoo artist has attacked Demi Lovato over a tattoo the singer got years ago. And when you find out what really happened it may make you scratch your head a bit. What would you do with a tattoo like this?
Back when Lovato was 18 years old she got a tattoo of pink kiss marks on the inside of her wrist (you can see it in the photo above). A fun idea ... until she noticed the lips kind of looked like a woman's labia. Yeesh, we're all proud of our lady parts and all, but who wants an extra set on her arm???
Lovato just had the tattoo covered up with a new tattoo of a rose and posted the image to Instagram, thanking the artist. And that's where her troubles began.

The original tattoo artist, Ashley McMullen, heard about the cover-up and was offended. But oddly enough, it wasn't because Lovato obliterated McMullen's work. It's because Lovato didn't give her credit, and never paid for it. She left this comment on Lovato's Instagram post.
Cool post @ddlovato. Thanks for getting the tattoo covered up I did for free that you specifically asked for. Not to mention you didn’t even have the courtesy to offer me any money in the first place. You pissed all over our toilet seat and you made a fool of yourself. What a shame that people look up to you. The tattoo you covered it with kinda sucks too. Looks like you might forever be a goon. #demilovato #scumbag #turd #claimstobesober #drankallthebeer #peepeetoiletseat #yousuck.
Wow, classy!
Lovado responded with an "I'm sorry BUT" via Tweetlonger. The post has since been deleted, but it read:
Dear Ashley McMullen, I wasn’t going to acknowledge your bitter Instagram comments but since your side of the story has picked up some headlines, I would like to share my thoughts and send you a proper apology. First, I would like to say I’m really sorry I don’t remember you or getting tattooed by you, but as you know I was f---ed up and sometimes people act like '#turds' when they’re loaded. Second, I apologize for my '#peepeetoiletseat'… That wasn’t on purpose, I was simply a drunken teenage girl. Lastly, I apologize for making fun of your work.. But… if I were you, I wouldn’t claim that one because it looked more like an open vagina (or even a butt hole as my 8 year old little sister called it at the time.)
Ouch! Wait, what was she sorry about again? That harsh burn made me forget. Lovato makes a good point, though. Why would the artist want to claim credit for a tattoo Lovato hated so much she covered it up? Wouldn't she instead feel a little grateful that work had gone anonymous?
Oh, but Lovato wasn't done yet. She went on to point out another harsh detail:
I also wouldn’t be admitting to the fact that you tattooed a very intoxicated 18 year old on a tour bus without the proper judgment that most legit tattoo artists have of saying 'Hmm… This underage kid is wasted, maybe I shouldn’t permanently ink a hot pink kiss mark on this girl’s wrist….? Oh well… F--- it, she’s famous.
Finally, Lovato said she takes full responsibility for getting that tattoo -- but she just can't resist taking another dig at McMullen's demands to get credit for the "now internationally infamous 'vagina tattoo.' But you’re right, I should give credit where credit is due, and you Ashley, surely deserve credit for this one. #justputitonmytab."
Okay, I think we should all just quietly walk away from this one. You, too, McMullen. Pack it up. You lost this one. Everyone's going to avoid making eye contact with you for a few weeks, and you may want to consider taking on a pseudonym for professional purposes. But don't worry -- this story will fade a lot faster than your average tattoo and we'll all forget about it.
Do you have any tattoos that started to look like something embarrassing after a while?
