Clik here to view.Got a mad PMS craving for chocolate? One brave woman has taken on our hormone-induced yen single-handedly and is serving up a supersnack: PMS Bites. Even better, they come to you.
Human woman and regular PMS'er Tania Green has struggled with her own cravings for years. She does everything you're supposed to do during that time of the month, exercising, getting more rest, reducing sugar and coffee, bla bla bla. And sure, that helps. But she still caves to that singular craving: CHOCOLATE.
So Green invented PMS Bites, a "hybrid between a classic chocolate truffle and brownie batter," as she puts it, but also raw, vegan, and gluten-free. Now, as we know, sugar is just going to amp up the crazy when you're feeling hormonal. So the Bites are made with gentler sweetener brown rice syrup. And then Green adds some PMS-soothing herbs, like calming chamomile, soothing Siberian ginseng, and dandelion root for bloating. She makes three varieties: Coconut-coated Coco-Nutty, pecan-crusted All Kinds of Nuts, and Plain Crazy.
Oh but wait -- Green sweetened the deal. Instead of just ordering them when you remember, you sign up for a monthly subscription so they just show up, freshly made, exactly when you need them ($20 for six bites each month).
And this, my friends, is what happens when we have female entrepreneurs.
More from The Stir: 4 Foods That Cure PMS That We Actually Love Eating
Green launched her company via a Kickstarter campaign that, no joke, funded within 15 hours and ultimately went $3439 over the goal. That's how excited women were about this snack.
"The response to PMS Bites has been phenomenal," Green told The Stir.
Women are doing it all, and 80 percent of women have PMS as monthly distraction. 122 days out of a year can be affected by PMS. I believe there is a growing trend to hack our bodies and perform optimally. There's more of an acknowledgment that making healthy decisions can have a huge impact on overall health and performance. My passion is to help women optimize their time and their full potential. Let's take those 122 days back!
These treats remind me of the "energetic zoom balls" a friend of mine makes with almond butter, raw honey, royal jelly, bee pollen, and a bunch of other herbs, coated in sesame seeds, cocoa powder, cinnamon and cayenne. Those are not for sale, though, which is kind of too bad because I totally need them.
Meanwhile, this is what I've been curing my PMS cravings lately (in addition to the exercise, and the trying to sleep more, and the bla bla bla).

I'm not saying I've been double-fisting the two, but I'm not not saying it, either.
I'm a little skeptical about the herbs in PMS Bites delivering their full potential in this form. The recipe has to balance potency with taste, and of course we're not going to eat 18 of those bites in one sitting. Haha, of course we're not! We're so not doing that. (I might.) But the flip side is, at least they're healthier than inhaling that pint of Ben & Jerry's Super Fudge Chunk. And anyway, is Ben going to deliver that ice cream to my doorstep on time every month? Heck no. He's a guy.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have a prescription subscription to get filled.
What PMS-soothing treat would you want delivered to your doorstep every month?
