"What the hell is that kid on?" That's what we've been wondering since last week -- and now we know. The toxicology report shows thatJustin Bieber had Xanax and marijuana in his system at the time of his DUI arrest in Miami a week ago. That's it. I mean -- that's plenty. But it's a relief to know that the Biebs wasn't on anything harder. I'd feared it was cocaine or worse. He was speeding, after all. But there's something almost poignant about this combination of substances.
Prescription Xanax -- was Justin stressed out? Well, of course he was. But knowing that he was on anti-anxiety meds just drives that home. I'm on the verge of saying "poor kid" -- except that he's been so obnoxious. I tend to experience compassion fatigue when the subject of Justin Bieber comes up.
So that's it. They tested Bieber for cocaine, opiates (heroin!), meth, and other drugs, and nada. No traces of them or even of alcohol. Wow -- no booze in his system!
So does that make a difference? A lot of people consider marijuana a "light" drug -- maybe even safer than alcohol. It's still illegal and incredibly foolish to toke and drive, and it's probably even worse with anti-anxiety meds. But I feel like there's a line here that Bieber won't cross.
He didn't drink. And he didn't do hard drugs. I think he's still kind of toeing the line, trying to figure out how much damage he can do without doing any serious damage to himself. Know what I mean? It was looking like he was hell-bent on self-destruction, but looking now at what was actually in his system, I wonder. He's still acting out, daring the people in his life to intervene.
What do you think of Bieber's toxicology's report -- are you relieved, surprised, shocked?
