See Angelina Jolie Steal the Show in Acting Class When She Was Just 25 (VIDEO)

Post by Adriana Velez.

Hey, want to see Angelina Jolie in an acting class when she was 25 years old? Of course you do! A newly unearthed video shows the mom of six working on her technique just before she was cast in the Oscar-winning role of patient Lisa Rowe in Girl, Interrupted. You can see the alchemy of talent and effort working its magic already.

In the video Jolie plays out a conflict with another woman, and she seems to be the dominant one. (No surprise there!) Her character is sure is twisted -- she tells her fellow actress, "I want to hurt you" over and over again, changing the delivery just a bit every time.

Okay, Angelina Jolie wants to hurt us. Duly noted! Can we run away, now? She was pretty darn scary even back then.

Jolie also does some juicy crying -- and at other moments breaks down into easy laughter. As unrefined as this workshop performance is, Jolie seems to give it her full focus and effort. Maybe it's because we're more familiar with her face than the others, but her charisma outshines her costar like crazy.

More from The Stir: Angelina Jolie Is 40: A Look Back Through the Years (PHOTOS)

According to the Daily Mail, after the scene, Jolie's acting coach tells her, "I thought your eyes were wonderful. I especially like the movement in the scene for you. Something was really connected."

Hinting at the star power we would all soon see the coach added, "I felt for you a real sense of style. You didn't allow it to just keep going from there, you changed it lots of times. You found the humor and you found that and you took the scene in different directions."

Jolie must have taken that last piece of feedback seriously, because I think that's what made her portrayal of Rowe in Girl, Interrupted so effective. She could have played that role straight-tragic. But Jolie seems to have a gift for finding the dark humor that simmers beneath troubled characters, all the way up to Maleficent.

Jolie seems pretty nonchalant about her performance, saying, "It felt pretty good, different and funny. It was interesting."

We're not sure why this video has surfaced at this time. It must be to promote something -- these things rarely happen randomly. But whatever the reasons, it's amazing to watch the star you know back when she was a baby-faced aspiring actress.

Hot New Selfie Trend Could Change How You See Your Body Forever (PHOTOS)

Post by Adriana Velez.

For those of us who've had our fill of impossibly skinny #fitspo images, there's something new and way more inspiring: #ThickAndFit. Women are posting workout selfies under this hashtag to share very different versions of what a strong, athletic woman's body can look like.

What you'll see on Instagram under #ThickAndFit (and #ThickFit) are women with curves, legs packed with muscles. It's used by women like bodybuilder and trainer Lita Lewis. "It was announcing my own definition of myself," she told The Cut. "It was owning my beauty and my body and my curves and my strength."

Some women bulk up substantially when they train -- like Lewis, and like Serena and Venus Williams. It's relatively rare for our gender, but you know what? I think it looks amazing. Even if that doesn't happen to you, for a lot of us, getting stronger doesn't necessarily translate into getting thinner. More toned, probably. But those short legs aren't getting any longer. And that's okay.

More from The Stir: What Really Happens When Women Lift Weights

It's about time we separate "healthy" from "skinny." We must know by now that you can be a warrior of cardiovascular and muscular health and have "chunky" legs. You can eat a wholesome, nutrient-dense diet and it won't necessarily make you whippet-thin. And you can be but a willowy waif with a junk food diet and zero gym time. Genetics play their role, but countless other factors do, too.

Healthy can look all sorts of different ways, and I think that's beautiful.

In fact, I think it's difficult to keep up with intense workouts and be as thin as the many #fitspo images you see. That's because exercise requires fuel. It makes you mad hungry. That's not an excuse to overeat. But it's a darn good reason not to starve yourself, either.

More from The Stir: Giving Up the 'Skinny' Dream Is the First Step for Getting Into the Best Shape of Your Life

Yet we're often encouraged to do just that in pursuit of this skinny, super-fit ideal. It's as if being strong isn't good enough on its own. You have to push yourself, count calories, and deprive yourself so you can get that thigh gap, those washboard abs.

If you happen to be that skinny from eating healthy and working out, great. Good for you! My point is, it shouldn't be the only shape we associate with fitness and health.

Pick up any strength training program or manual and you'll see loads of advice for restricting your diet and losing weight as well. I understand how that can be the goal for a lot of people. But it's almost like exercise and slimming down are supposed to go hand-in-hand, always, for all of us.

This mindset drives me crazy because in the last couple years I've amped up my workouts, but I've also gained 10 pounds. I'm more toned than I've ever been in my entire life. I'm also still very much on the lighter end of a healthy BMI, and my doctor says I can attribute some of those pounds to muscle weight. But to be honest, some of it is probably ice cream, and I feel a bit conflicted about that sometimes.

That bit of cushion on my hips is the part of me that enjoys indulging in treats on the weekends. It's the part of me that refuses to torture my loved ones with self-imposed hanger. And you know what? I like that girl. I like her a lot. I'm not killing her off just for vanity. How skinny do I need to be, really?

Meanwhile, half (or more?) of those #thinspo images involve lighting tricks, strategic poses that resemble nothing you'd ever do with your body in real life, and blatant Photoshopping. Backs are painfully arched, waistlines look unnatural. Backgrounds are defying the laws of physics and bending. What in the hell are people even doing?!?

Stop the madness!

That is why I love this #ThickAndFit Instagram movement. Well, almost love. We shouldn't even call it THICK and fit because this is what many healthy, normal women look like when we work out. It should just be #Fit. Fit can look thick and thin and everything in between. If you're working it, you get to own it. That's the way I think it should be.

Acid Attack Victim Dares to Show Her Disfigured Face in Poignant Beauty Tutorial (VIDEO)

Post by Adriana Velez.

YouTube beauty vlogger Reshma makes tutorials like none other you'll ever see. She shows how to apply a perfect red lip, but it's hard to pay attention when the rest of her face is so startlingly disfigured. It turns out this isn't actually a beauty tutorial -- it's something heartbreaking.

Reshma is the victim of an acid-throwing attack. It's the reason why her skin is disfigured, why she's missing one eye. She ends her lipstick tutorial by saying, "You’ll find a red lipstick easily in the market, just like concentrated acid. This is the reason why, every day, a girl becomes a victim of an acid attack.”

Every day?

You can buy concentrated acid at the freakin' market?!?

Reshma's attack happened when the then-18-year-old Mumbai resident traveled to Northern India to take an exam. She was staying with her sister, who lives with her husband's family. She and her sister were walking in the village when her brother-in-law and his friends allegedly poured concentrated sulfuric acid into her face, severely burning her skin and destroying one eye.

If you go to Reshma's Indy GoGo fundraising page you can see in graphic detail how devastating this attack was. It's astonishing to learn the chemicals that do this are so readily available. And by the way, they're also cheap -- about the equivalent of $1.50. No wonder these attacks are so common.

Northern India has become known for its violence against women. It's a troubling problem the country is grappling to address. That's why Reshma has teamed up with Make Love Not Scars to create the video series, Beauty Tips by Reshma. They're promoting a petition to ban the sale of concentrated acid at Indian markets. (It's supposedly illegal to sell to people under 18, like that's any help.)

It won't end violence against women, but it certainly would help.

I think it's amazing that Reshma has turned her personal ordeal into a mission. She must have tremendous strength to put her face out there and show the world what happened to her, and to demand change. She's speaking for the many other women and girls who have been attacked. Her efforts could also help prevent countless other attacks.

The men who did this to Reshma wanted to silence her, maybe even to erase her from public life. But she proves that a woman is so much more than her face. By boldly speaking out, Reshma's inner beauty shines through those scars. They failed.

Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt Confirm Split After a Tumultuous Year

Post by Adriana Velez.

Here it is, the confirmation none of us wanted: Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt have broken up. The two issued a joint statement over Labor Day weekend. "With great sadness, we have decided to separate, after 18 years of love and shared history. We will continue to be supportive of each other in every way possible moving forward."

To say that Hamm and Westfeldt have been "dating" for 18 years would not exactly be accurate. They probably dated for a few months but then, like the grownups that they are, they committed to a relationship. While they never married, their couplehood lasted a great deal longer than many Hollywood marriages do -- heck, longer than a lot of ordinary marriages do.

In 2011 Hamm co-starred in Friends With Kids, a film written and directed by Westfeldt. This summer Hamm told E! that the two had a couple of projects "percolating." He said, "It's one of those things we enjoyed the first time around so hopefully we can find something else to do again." We would understand if they decide not to follow through on those percolating projects after all.

More from The Stir: Jon Hamm's Response to Breakup Rumors Is Classic Don Draper

What a year it's been for Jon Hamm. He wrapped up the last season of Mad Men. Then in late February and March he spent 30 days in rehab for alcohol abuse.

A wave of breakup rumors came in April, but the couple denied the split in a joint statement. Hamm credited Westfeldt for supporting him through his treatment.

In May the final season of Mad Men aired.

Another breakup rumor surfaced in early July. But later that month Hamm and Westfeldt were seen together, "canoodling" at an after party for the premiere of Netflix's Wet Hot American Summer, according to People magazine.

A friend of Westfeldt told Us, "They've been fighting for a while, but now they're done. They decided to finally split. It's sad." We have to agree.

But Hamm and Westfeldt deserve some credit and even maybe congratulations for making their relationship last 18 years. Good for them. They had a good run, they no doubt learned a lot from each other, and hopefully they'll use those lessons as they step forward into the unknown.

I can't help but think of that last scene in Mad Men, when Don Draper takes in a seaside meditation. "The new day brings new hope. Lives we've led. The lives we've yet to lead. New day. New ideas. A new you." And thus ends the summer of celeb breakups.

If you're feeling like your day got off to a rough start, you need to see this video of Katy Perry falling off a Segway at Burning Man. While we're relieved to say she wasn't physically injured, we think you'll agree her dignity took a severe hit. But that's okay!

It's Katy Perry. She knows how to laugh at herself -- in fact, this is her Instagram video, which she captioned "obvious first time burner alert." Boy, she sure did throw herself into it. She's got the full gear -- goggles, boho shaggy coat, weird wheels.

Now repeat after me: "At least I didn't fall off a Segway today."

Organic, Gluten-Free, Low-Glycemic, and More -- What Confusing Food Labels Really Mean

$

Post by Adriana Velez.

There are so many food labels out there. What do they all mean, really? And which ones are "official" and which are just marketing?

We asked Sharon Palmer, RD, the Plant-Powered Dietitian and author of Plant-Powered for Life, for the full scoop on some of the most common of these labels, what's just hype, and what's useful information.

All-Natural: This could mean any number of things because the FDA doesn't have an official definition for it. However, Palmer says, "it doesn't object if food companies use this term on labels when they don’t contain added color, artificial flavors, or synthetics substances." She recommends exercising caution when you see it. "Do your own investigation and read the label to make sure that it doesn’t contain ingredients you don’t want to find."

Cage-Free/Free-Range: We see these terms on egg cartons. But what's the difference? Neither are USDA-mandated labels. They imply that the hens are free to walk, nest, and do other chicken things. The difference is in where they get to do this. "Free-range means they have access to outdoors; cage-free means they do not have access to outdoors," Palmer says.

Gluten-Free: Good news! The FDA now has an official rule defining gluten-free for food labeling. Palmer says it means that "the product must contain a uniform threshold of gluten considered safe for celiac patients." She says consumers should be able to trust gluten-free labeling on foods.

More from The Stir: Our Food Labels Are Getting a Major Makeover -- See for Yourself (PHOTOS)

GMO-Free: By now you've probably heard about genetically modified foods. Well, companies that sell or manufacture foods with GMO ingredients aren't required to label them as such. If you want to avoid GMOs, Palmer says, "the Non-GMO Project has a certification program in which products that have this label are certified that they do not contain GMO ingredients." She says consumers can trust this label. Another indicator, she adds, is the USDA organic label, which is not allowed for foods with GMO ingredients.

Grass-Fed: You'll see this label sometimes on meat and dairy products. "This USDA label requires 'grass-fed' animals be fed only grass and foods they've foraged with the exception of milk consumed prior to weaning," Palmer says. "They must have continuous access to pasture during growing season. This is a valuable label for those concerned with the welfare of the animals as well as the nutritional quality of their meat and dairy." Grass-fed foods tend to be higher in Omega-3 fats, among other nutrients, than conventional foods.

Local: This has become a very trendy food label, but how local is local, really? Surprise! Sometimes it could mean the food was grown 500 miles away. "There is no standard definition for local, so it may be according to a particular organization, for example a supermarket," Palmer says. You may have noticed stores like Whole Foods marketing foods grown within a certain number of miles. Some farmers' markets have similar requirements. So ask questions about your food if going local is important to you. "It’s up to you to determine what the definition of local is for the product you’re considering," Palmer says.

Low Glycemic: This is another voluntary label that has no official meaning. Palmer says some food companies have an analysis done on their products to measure how its carbohydrates will affect blood glucose levels. "Most companies go to extremes to avoid listing incorrect information on labeling," she says. "So, you can probably feel pretty safe with these levels, but it’s not certified."

Multigrain: This means it has a bunch of different whole grains, right? Nope. "This just means that the product has more than one grain," Palmer says. "It doesn’t mean that its has a certain amount of each grain, or that it is whole grain. Use caution with this claim."

More from The Stir: 5 Ways to Tell If Your Whole Grain Bread Is Real

Organic: "This program is mandated through the USDA and is highly regulated with a very detailed set of guidelines that companies must comply with in order to use this label on products," Palmer says. This includes approved organic pesticides and fertilizers. "You can trust the USDA Organic label when you see it."

No Added Sugar: Surprise! This labels means what it says. It cannot contain added sugars, at least not the ones the FDA recognizes. Palmer says these include "cane syrup, high fructose corn syrup, honey, dextrose, and sucrose," among others.

Pasture-Raised: Like "cage free" this is not a USDA-defined label. However, Palmer says it means that "the animal is uncaged, free to walk, and have outdoor access."

Sustainable: This word, and its cousin "artisan," have become practically meaningless, they're used so indiscriminately. It's supposed to mean that the food is grown or produced in a way that has minimal impact on the environment. "There is no standard definition for this term, and you should be careful that you're not falling prey to marketing hype," Palmer cautions. "Check out the food company to see what they base this claim on."

Vegan: Believe it or not, there is no federal certification for this label. "It is a voluntary program in which the food manufacturer specifies that there are no non-vegan ingredients in the product," Palmer says. However, even if it's not certified, she thinks it's generally a trustworthy label "since manufacturers do not want to pose any issues by misbranding their items." She adds that you can verify this simply by reading the ingredients list.

Wild-Caught: You'll see this label on some fish. "This means that the seafood came from seas, rivers, and other natural bodies of water," Palmer says. This is different from fish raised at a commercial fishery.

What labels do you look for when you're food shopping?

Toddler's Death in Hot SUV May Have Been the Result of 'Miscommunication' (VIDEO)

Post by Adriana Velez.

Imagine working the night shift, sleeping a few hours to recover, and then waking to find your baby died while in the care of his grandparents. That's the nightmare Mandie Hendershot woke to when she found out her toddler, Jaxon Taylor, died in an overheated SUV.

Hendershot's parents had taken the 11-month-old with them to church. After they returned, around 3 p.m., they allegedly forgot to bring the sleeping boy indoors with them. It wasn't until Hendershot woke shortly after 5 p.m. and asked for her son that the family realized he was still in his car seat in the car.

Jaxon was rushed to the same hospital emergency room where Hendershot works as a nurse. He was pronounced dead. Now police are investigating the toddler's death.

Police haven't ruled out criminal charges, though it looks like the death is the result of miscommunication. In addition to Jaxon's grandparents, his aunt and his baby cousin had also been in the car. Sheriff Steve Wilson tells WRCB-TV, "We believe, at this point, that each adult may have thought the other adult had responsibility to get that child out. When they got inside, they just did not confirm or communicate that to each other."

More from The Stir: 'I Left My Baby in a Hot Car': One Mom Shares Her Tragic Story

It's simply horrifying that a mistake like this is so easy to make. It doesn't sound like it was deliberate, but you can imagine how horrible the family feels. There is absolutely no way to undo what's already happened.

Not only did a child die, but Hendershot's relationship with her parents and her sister will never be the same. How would you feel if your child died under your parents' care? How would you feel if your sister got her child out of a car but left your child behind?

Hendershot and her fiancé, Patrick Taylor, now must mourn the loss of their son and deal with strained family relations. Our hearts go out to them.

Chrissy Teigen Appreciates Spanx More Than Ever Today (PHOTO)

Post by Adriana Velez.

Everyone is asking themselves this riveting question: Why is model Chrissy Teigen working out in her Spanx? Is this something we should all start doing? Does it make high-intensity interval training more intense? Relax! It's not a new fitness trend, but it is a clever hack you may need to copy someday.

Teigen Instagrammed a selfie in Spanx and a leather biker jacket looking a bit like a brunette Sandy at the end of the movie Grease. But she wasn't on her way to a rendezvous with Danny. Nope, she was on her way to the gym. And she's wearing that shapewear because she forgot her workout clothes.

Such is life for the jet set! You're constantly on the go, but you don't get to use forgetting your Lululemon as an excuse to skip a workout. Teigen's is a clever solution -- there's just one little problem. As she says in the caption, "#nosquats #crotchhole."

Classic Teigen, putting it all out there -- the good, the bad, and the ugly of a model's life.

And this is a woman who thinks so little of said shapewear that she doesn't replace it just because of a little tear.

And! This is a woman who finds a way to exercise even when she forgets the proper attire. She's probably up before the stores open. Am I feeling inspired now to work out, too? Yes! No. I mean, yes. Probably. Maybe. Go, Teigen -- you work out for us, okay?

Dakota Johnson's New 'Multi-Tonal' Highlights Will Send You Running to the Salon (PHOTOS)

Post by Adriana Velez.

Need some hair-spiration this fall? Take a gander at Dakota Johnson's autumnal highlights. The actress debuted her lusciously multi-tonal new 'do at the Venice International Film Festival and we're utterly enchanted with the look.

Gone is the ombré trend. Gone, too, are babylights. These are serious highlights, three or four lighter versions of Johnson's natural color, including chocolate, toffee, caramel, butterscotch ... all those delicious shades. And somehow the highlights are neither stripy nor chunky. I don't know exactly what's happening there but it's magic.

Even better, Johnson's color looks modern and romantic with her hair set in what we have to call woodland nymph waves. These tresses are spikier than beachy waves -- and they're shorter, too. Along with the highlights, Johnson got her hair chopped back to that shoulder-brushing length she had in April.

You guys, this is the photo we'll be bringing to the salon with us this season.

Yum, right? I'll have what she's having.

More from The Stir: 20 Times Dakota Johnson Gave Us Serious Hair Envy

As amazing as these highlights look in brunette, the blond and redhead versions would probably also look gorgeous. But there's something so autumnal about these shades of brown. Fall is a serious season, which calls for serious color -- but not too serious.

The highlights look sharp when Johnson has straightened hair, too. But they really come alive in waves. And if you can manage to always stand while backlit with golden Mediterranean light, all the better. Har har! We can dream, right? At least the highlights themselves look somewhat attainable of us ordinary women.

Selena Gomez Bares It All for New 'Revival' Album Cover -- Literally (PHOTO)

Wowza, Selena Gomez is topless on her upcoming album, Revival. She's all grown up now and she wants you to notice. Okay, Ms. Gomez, you've got our attention -- what's the real meaning of this, though?

The singer posted the revealing portrait via Instagram yesterday. Don't worry, it's about as discreet as a nude photo can get. Her arms and legs are strategically placed so as to pass Instagram standards.

This isn't the first seductive, risqué pose for Gomez -- we've been seeing a lot cleavage and come-hither selfies, so it's no surprise. But this is probably the most barefaced (haha) appeal for us to take her seriously as a grown-up woman. "I'm 22!" she seems to say. "And Disney ain't my daddy no more!"

More from The Stir: Selena Gomez Rocks Sexy Lingerie -- in Case We Didn't Know She's All Grown Up Now

Gomez has been talking about owning her sensuality. But she's also been talking about growing into a more mature artist. In June she told Ryan Seacrest she's "really excited about the title of the album and the rebirth of Selena. It's just beautiful. It's my chance to just feel like an independent artist and I worked really hard on it ... It's all about my journey."

So maybe the stripped-down cover is about how we're hearing the "real" Selena Gomez, not someone else's creation, not a record company's idea of who she should be. Will fans love her just as she is? I think they already have.

Jessica Simpson is not the first celebrity to declare that mamas can be sexy goddesses. But the way she's been saying that is definitely new for her. Lately Simpson has been turning out a more sophisticated sensuality and we think it's working for her.

Check out Simpson's cleavage-baring little black dress. Okay, the va-va-voom business up top is none too subtle. But the slightly clingy flow to the rest of her dress suggests the rest of her curves without shouting them. And the length, color, and simplicity keeps it classy ... ish.

Then there was the Elie Saab pantsuit she wore for The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. All black again, with high-waisted maxi trousers and a semi-sheer, long-sleeved beaded top with (GASP!) no cleavage whatsoever. It's a stunning look on her, especially contrasted with all that long, blond hair.

No doubt about it: Connie Britton has gorgeous hair. How does she do it? The Nashville star revealed the secret to her shiny, golden tresses, and surprise! Forget celeb stylists and expensive products. What gives Britton her fab mane is something so easy, ALL of us should do it.

But will we? WILL WE?!? Wait until you find out what it is. No, it's not kangaroo placenta or anything weird like that. It's something we all have access to, something that's good for everyone, something you could start using right now without even going to the store.

Hah! The ol' bait-and-switch! I love it. Who says feminists don't have a sense of humor? Did you see all that head tossing?

It's hard to say which is my favorite part, but I especially love when the other woman asks, "but what if I don't need feminism?" Because girl, you do. Women still get paid less to do the same work guys do, so we're not done.

More from The Stir: Taylor Swift Thanks Lena Dunham for Educating Her on Feminism

It looks like 2015 will be known as the year feminism went mainstream. Intelligent women (and men) everywhere have started using the word again to talk about stuff we all agree should be priorities. Well, almost all of us. I guess there are still a few holdouts who think women aren't equal to men, but it's getting harder and harder for those types to find women to mate with them. So I think we'll see their numbers dwindle eventually.

Meanwhile, the rest of us will carry on working to make the world a better place, and that includes making feminism fun. This is where the party's at, people. Don't let anyone intimidate you away from that word -- it belongs to everyone who wants to embrace it.

Amy Schumer, Pink, Ellen and Hillary Clinton Danced Together -- No, It Wasn't a Dream (VIDEO)

Post by Adriana Velez.

We're going to talk about the time Hillary Clinton went on Ellen and Amy Schumer ice skated by in a blue skating dress and then they all got up and danced with Pink. I know it sounds like I'm describing a dream, but this actually happened in real life. I think...

What we know for certain is that Hillary Clinton taped an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. The weird part is that they taped it on the skating rink at Rockefeller Center. Why? Anyway, Ellen dutifully asked the former secretary of state and current presidential candidate about the email scandal and other stuff, I can't remember because then Amy Schumer skated by and invited Clinton to join her.

You see? I swear, I think I dreamed this. Amy's dress was the color of a bright, summer sky, and her boots were red like Dorothy's ruby slippers in The Wizard of Oz. And then at some point Ellen's DJ Stephen "t'Witch" Boss turned on the music and started showing the former First Lady some movies, and Amy was there, and Ellen can't resist a dance challenge so she joined in, too. And Pink came out from nowhere to do those "peace" fingers.

That sounds totally random, right? Also Hillary presented Ellen with a tiny replica of her blue pantsuit. If only I could find proof that this actually happened!

See? I knew I didn't just dream this happened. Anyway, I'm sure it will all make sense when the show airs on September 10. Did I mention 5-year-old presidential expert Ellen Macy got to ask Hillary a few questions, too? That is one crazy-fun lineup.

What Starbucks's New 'Real' Pumpkin Spice Latte Really Tastes Like

Post by Adriana Velez.

It's 90 degrees out with 61 percent humidity. What better time to try out Starbucks's new Pumpkin Spice Latte, now with REAL pumpkin? It just came out yesterday, which means we ran out to try it so you don't have to until October. Can you EVEN wait that long?

As you may recall, when last we heard of the iconic fall drink it was loaded with the dreaded artificial pumpkin flavoring. Not only was there no REAL, actual pumpkin in there, the PSL contains caramel coloring, which according to lab rats and Food Babe blogger Vani Hari could obliterate the entire human race. Something must be done! And so, Starbucks decided to change its recipe and inject their lattes with something no one actually wants in their coffee, if they stop and think about it: pumpkin.

More from The Stir: Easy Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte Recipe

What does that taste like? Off to our local Starbucks to find out. We'll ignore the cognitive dissonance of seeing this on the door that divides a hot, steamy, sunny day outside from the air-conditioning indoors.

Yeah, I'll say. WARMLY. A little too warm, if you ask me. I was dreading the prospect of drinking hot liquid pumpkin pie on a day like today but lo and behold, you can get the PSL on ice. I'm saved!

You know... iced Pumpkin Spice Latte is everything that's wrong with the world today.

I ordered one anyway.

As you can see, it's more orange than before. I think it was a bit more of an ocher in years past. And yes, it does taste more pumpkin-y. My son (yeah, I give my 11-year-old sweetened fake coffee drinks sometimes, so what?) said he thought the flavor was about one-fifth pumpkin. I also picked up on more umami, not quite savory, but possibly less sugary-sweet than the original. Not bad! Also not something I need to taste ever again.

This drink will please no one.

Die-hard fans will gnash their teeth at being denied their autumnal taste of nostalgia. And people who are trying it for the first time will wonder why we should drink this stuff when there's that much tastier salted caramel mocha.

I saw you with that #SaltedCaramelMocha yesterday. #WeNeedToTalk

But who cares what the salted caramel fans think? Love is love, and you can't keep PSL and its fans apart. So go on, try it. You'll probably still like it. And it'll still go perfectly with your sweater, scarf, and seasonally correct boyfriend.

The real question is: Are YOU real enough for the new real Pumpkin Spice Latte?

'Jessie' Star Debby Ryan Wears a Wedding Tux Like Only a Woman Can (PHOTOS)

Post by Adriana Velez.

For every woman who's ever had to wear the dreaded bridesmaid's dress, we have something way cooler. Check out Debby Ryan's hot tuxedo look. The star of Disney's Jessie was brother Chase's "best man" at his wedding over Labor Day weekend and she dressed for the part in great style.

To harmonize with the pale gray tux, Ryan went with white hair and mauve lipstick. She fits right in with the rest of the groomsmen, don't you think? It's hard to see, but I think she may be wearing Mary Janes.

Here's a closer look. Okay, technically this is not exactly a tux, but it's still a formal look. Gray is perfect for a daytime wedding (before 4 p.m.), but they kept things a wee bit on the casual side with suit jackets instead of fussier cutaway (short in the front, longer in the back) morning jackets. Ryan looks polished with the neutral tie and collar studs.

Later on for the reception Ryan loosened up and ditched the jacket to reveal these adorable suspenders. When does a girl ever get to wear suspenders to a wedding? Never, that's when. I bet she was wearing the most comfortable shoes of all the women there.

By the way, this isn't the first suit for Ryan -- she just wore a black, cropped version with electric blue heels for the MuchMusic Video Awards earlier this summer. Looks like the girl's got a solid menswear game. It's a fun, sexy way to look more grown-up without showing a lot of skin.

Couple's 'Drunk History' Video Is Our Favorite New Wedding Trend

Post by Adriana Velez.

"How did you two meet?" This is a question every couple must answer over and over again, especially at their wedding reception. It's a great way to ruin your favorite story! So comedian/magician Justin Willman and photographer Jillian Sipkins created a brilliant solution: A Drunk History–style "how we met" video.

If you're not already familiar, Drunk History is a video series created by Derek Waters in which he (or someone else) gets drunk and narrates a moment in history which is reenacted by actors -- using his drunk voice-over.

Well, Willman and Sipkins thought that would be a pretty great way to share their own romantic history. Willman later posted the video to Facebook, saying, "We didn't want to waste time at the wedding reception having to answer the question "how did you two meet?", so with the help of a few friends and a lot of booze we made this video to show at the rehearsal dinner."

They drank a lot for this video.

I would have passed out after sharing the bottle of whisky. Mad respect to this couple's livers. I'm feeling inspired, how about you?

More from The Stir: Best Woman, Man of Honor & More Offbeat Wedding Party Picks (PHOTOS)

No, really -- I think creating your own "how we met" video for the reception is a brilliant idea. You don't have to do yours drunk, obviously. This was probably very Justin and Jillian -- you really get a sense of their personalities, which is exactly what you want. But there's a million different ways you could spin your story.

I also love how nonlinear Justin and Jillian's romance was. They met, but they didn't start dating right away. That's so typical, right?

More from The Stir: 10 Surprising Wedding Ideas You Haven't Already Seen 100 Times (PHOTOS)

And I love that
what finally got things going between those two was the photo Jillian posted on Instagram. Wow, wouldn't you love to see that photo? I guess posting a hot selfie really can work ... for something other than just another hookup. Maybe there was something more to Jillian's selfie than the usual contorted pose and fish lips.

And now, because it really is worth watching all 12 minutes, I give you: "Justin & Jill's Drunk History." Warning: Salty language ahoy. Hide the kids or turn down the volume.

10 Things Every Divorced Woman Should Do Before Starting to Date Again (PHOTOS)

Post by Adriana Velez.

independent womanHow long after a divorce should you wait before dating again? The answer is different for everyone, but there are some important things everyone needs to work through first if they want to avoid the dreaded "rebound" relationship -- and yet more pain.

We asked Tina B. Tessina, PhD, (A.K.A. "Dr. Romance") psychotherapist and author of Love Styles: How to Celebrate Your Differences, for her advice on knowing when you're ready to love again -- and how to start dating.

Dr. Tessina tells us women actually do better in their post-divorce relationships than men do because we actually bother grieving, processing, and contemplating until we feel ready. That said, she recommends spending at least a year before you start dating again, and that's the key word: spend. You're not just waiting around for your pain to fade away on its own. This is a year (or more) in which you do some serious work.

Jessica Simpson Names Her Biggest Money Mistake and His Initials Are N.L. (VIDEO)

Post by Adriana Velez.

Fashion designer, singer, and former reality television star Jessica Simpson appeared on CNBC's Closing Bell to talk about her budding business empire. When host Kelly Evans asked Simpson what her biggest money mistake was, she responded, "my first marriage."

Jessica was only joking ... sort of. She actually paused to think a moment and then said, "The biggest money mistakes? I don't know. For some reason I thought of my first marriage."

Both women cracked up and then Evans said, "That's actually a common answer, believe it or not."

I do believe it! Obviously marriage is about way more than money. And you can't dismiss any marriage, however troubled, as simply a "mistake."

More from The Stir: Could Your Husband Be Setting You Up for Financial Ruin?

However, rushing into marriage with someone who turns out to be a less-than-ideal partner, or who is just plain dishonest, can lead to financial disaster. Divorce costs money, and dividing shared assets and living in two different households is going to make you feel poorer. Even if you stay married, if you're stuck with a compulsive gambler, for example, you are Mrs. Screwed (and not in a fun way).

On the other hand ... didn't Simpson achieve fame and fortune thanks to that reality TV show she did with Nick Lachey, Newlyweds? Sure, her recording career was going great before that. But the show made her a household name. You can't pick up a can of Chicken of the Sea without thinking of her.

See this video on The Stir by CafeMom.

Just kidding -- the show (WHICH WAS ABOUT HER MARRIAGE) led to lucrative endorsements, big album sales, and a fashion line for her.

Then Simpson and Lachey divorced, of course, and they had to divvy up their assets. According to TMZ, the couple earned $36 million during their marriage but Simpson walked away with the lion's share.

So you could say Jessica's first marriage wasn't such a big money mistake after all. But I guess I'm a glass-more-than-half-full kinda gal.

7 Hottest Thighbrows in Hollywood ... What the Heck Are Those, Anyway? (PHOTOS)

Post by Adriana Velez.

Just when we thought we were safe from thigh gap, there's a new absurd must-have sexy body part: Thighbrows. Does it mean leaving the hair on your thighs unshaved? Not a chance, lazybones (I, too, am disappointed). It's much weirder than that.

Thighbrows, according to Cosmo, are that crease at the top of your thighs where they meet the pelvis when you bend forward. Also, and this is important, thighbrows are "the erogenous zone of 2015." WOW, what a disappointing year for erogenous zones, right?

We know about thighbrows thanks to the rise (har har) of the frong, which is a super high-cut bodysuit or bikini bottom. Oh, you don't prance about in a frong all the time? And you're highly unlikely to, now that fall is here? Well shoot, you know that's not going to stop these celebrities.

Apparently the keys to having TB is having 1) thighs, 2) bending over, and 3) wearing a frong. So basically if you can check off all three you, too, can have thighbrows, the most democratic, accessible body trend you'll ever ignore.

Never. Miss. A thighbrow. Opportunity. Says Kylie Jenner.

You would almost think the whole Kardashian family has a lock on the trend, but they're not the only practitioners. Selena Gomez works a bit of thighbrow.

And that's what it's all about. Seems kind of dumb, right? I still don't quite understand why this is even a thing, much less an erogenous zone. What's next, my inner elbow fold?

And can we please find another name than "thighbrow"? Because according to Urban Dictionary that actually means you need to do some bikini line grooming. Thighbrow is already taken, Cosmo! Maybe call it "thighline" or "thighsmile" or "thighgroove."

'Dear Fat People' Vlogger Fired From Movie -- About a Fat-Shamed Girl!

Post by Adriana Velez.

Less than a week after posting her incendiary "Dear Fat People" video, vlogger Nicole Arbour has been fired from a movie gig. According to Zap2It.com, she was going to choreograph routines for a movie about -- you're not going to believe this -- a teen who gets bullied for being fat. Yeah.

The movie, Don't Talk to Irene, is a body-positive story about a 16-year-old girl who wants to be a cheerleader but gets bullied because of her weight. So she works hard, eats kale, and loses all the weight and all her dreams come true and people are nice to her, right? Nope. "She learns that she doesn’t have to change anything about herself to be awesome because she already is," director Pat Mills tells Zap2It.

Mills hired Arbour because she was both a traditional dance choreographer and a cheerleader. "She was fun and nice and had a lot of energy," he recalls. He says she read his script and liked it.

More from The Stir: Comedienne's 'Dear Fat People' Video Breaks the Internet -- and Not in a Good Way

WAIT. Arbour read a script about a girl who's bullied over her weight and ends up deciding to love herself the way she is -- and LIKED it?

Shortly after Mills hired Arbour her video caused an Internet storm and he saw it, of course. And he says it made him never want to see her again.

[‘Dear Fat People’] is an unfunny and cruel fat-shaming video that guises itself about being about ‘health.’ It’s fat phobic and awful. It went on for over for six minutes. I felt like I had been punched in the gut. I was so upset I was shaking like Shelley DuVall in the The Shining.

Yowza, I can imagine. I mean, that video was everything Mills's film is working against. How could Arbour read that script, sign up to choreograph it, and the send out the exact opposite message through her video? I have to think maybe she didn't even read the script.

Or maybe -- oh my God, is it possible? -- Mills's script actually prompted her "Dear Fat People" video.

You guys. I feel like we need to take a quick detour and talk about schadenfreude. It's a German word that means taking pleasure in other people's misfortune. I have an ethical dilemma for you. If someone is very publicly cruel to an entire class of people, and then gets fired from a job because of that, are we wrong to snicker to ourselves quietly with some measure of satisfaction that maybe, just maybe, the toxicity you send out into the world really does come back at you eventually?

So anyway! Wow, pretty crazy, right? Oh, life, you sure do throw us some mad curveballs, don't you.

Have we learned anything from this experience? I mean, did any people who believe fat-shaming is totally justified change their mind when they witnessed how many other people (I think the majority of us?) expressed horror and dismay at Arbour's video? I wonder. At any rate, I hope production for Don't Talk to Irene goes well and changes people's hearts, this time for the better.
