A new clip from the upcoming flick The Avengers shows Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow fighting off a whole crew of bad guys. It's classic: She's tied up in a chair, on a cellphone, and then she literally kicks ass and escapes. You go girl! And all that jazz. (Oh Bad Guys, if you would only work together instead of taking turns fighting, this wouldn't keep happening to you.) Except ... I don't know, there's something vaguely familiar about this scene. Just can't put my finger on it. Where have I seen this move before ...?
Oh yeah, here: In the original Muppet Movie! Miss Piggy is tied up by the nefarious Professor Kraussman. He places Kermit into the electric cerebrectomy ("it turns the brains into guacamole") and suddenly it's all too much for our porcine princess. She busts out of her ropes and kicks some evil mad scientist butt. HI-YAH! Check this shit out -- at the 5:00 mark.
Really, Avengers. Stealing moves from Miss Piggy? Well you know what they say about imitation being the most sincere form of flattery. Might as well steal from the best, right? If you're a female action hero, it really doesn't get any better than Miss Piggy. By the way, don't you love it when she does this?
Who's the fiercest action hero, Black Widow or Miss Piggy?
