Oh Romney campaign, thank you for the toys. Romney campaign senior advisor Eric Fehrnstrom was asked on CNN if he thought the Republican primaries had pushed Romney so far to the right that he would alienate moderate voters in the general election this fall. Here's what Eric said.
I think you hit a reset button for the fall campaign. Everything changes. It's almost like an Etch-A-Sketch. You can kind of shake it up and restart all over again.
Okay, let's leave aside the obvious insult that we're that stupid and forgetful. Did someone say Etch-A-Sketch? You know what this means, right? #RomneyToys 2012 is here! Let's have some fun!
Okay, so let's go with the most literal jokes, first. Here's a Romney Etch-A-Sketch website. Go ahead, shake it! Every time you hit the "shake' button he changes positions! And there's a fun video.
And here's another Romney Etch-A-Sketch website. Click on the screen and you'll get a new crazy Romney quote.
Here's a Romney Etch-A-Sketch image, a portrait of Romney on an Etch-A-Sketch. There's like million more out there. We've just sketched the surface here, folks. Heh heh. They just go on and on. Why? Because the comparison hits just a little too close to home for Romney. And also, because we like toys.
Did you hear Rick Santorum handed out Etch-A-Sketches to reporters at an event?
Meanwhile, Twitter has become the Island of Mitt's Toys. Here's Andy Borowitz's first response: BREAKING: In Possible Gaffe, Romney Compares Self to Pinocchio Pez Dispenser. A few hours later he added, "Romney: "We're not like Etch-a-Sketch. We're more like Hungry Hungry Hippos - we can't stop opening our mouths."
Follow the hash tag #Romneytoys and you'll get all sort of jokes. He's a slinky, because he "flips & flops & back again & again." Here's Mitt's makeover as Wooly Willy. "My Little Phony" via @litbrit. "PACman" via @boopumpkins. @IndyMuttMom went to down with "Pin the Fail on the Donkey," "Gumby, 'I'm flexible,' "Silly Putty: What can we make stick today?" and "Mr. Potatohead, of course. Interchangeable parts!" OK, one more: Time to shake things up!
Do you think the Romney campaign will ever recover from Etch-A-Sketch-Gate?
