Well if this isn't the best idea in food since molecular gastronomy, I don't know what is! I'm talking about 24-Hour Sprinkles, a cupcake-dispensing ATM, open 24 hours a day, right smack dab in the middle of Beverly Hills (of course). An ATM that spits out JOY instead of money! Isn't that the best thing ever?
My god, finally an answer to my prayers! How many times have I found myself sitting there at 11 p.m., craving a cupcake, with no options anywhere besides whatever horrible, stale, frosted rock I can find at the corner store? I only have one question for these Sprinkles people: When are you opening up a branch in New York City? Actually, no, I have several questions ...
So really, a cupcake dispenser? For realz? And how fresh are those cupcakes? Sprinkles told LAist:
This automatic cupcake machine dispenses freshly baked cupcakes, cupcake mixes, apparel and even cupcakes for Fido! In the heart of Beverly Hills nestled between Sprinkles Cupcakes and the brand new Sprinkles Ice Cream, 24 Hour Sprinkles will be continuously restocked day and night with a variety of freshly baked cupcake flavors.
Okay, so the cupcakes are continuously restocked. By whom? It's next to the Sprinkles Cupcakes store, so I guess they have easy access to the baking action. But is it, like, Oompa Loompas back there?
How much are those cupcakes? Is there a surcharge for convenience? What about extra sprinkles?
How do you avoid frosting smearage all over the machine?
Can you choose different flavors?
Does the ATM require exact change? Can I use my debit card?
Do the cupcakes come with napkins? I'm kind of a messy eater.
What's the limit? Like, could I just stand there all night buying cupcakes? Not that I would. Heh heh. I'm just wondering.
Clearly this requires further investigation. I think The Stir needs to put me on a plane to Los Angeles today so I can learn more about this amazing new technology. Also because it's raining here on the East Coast and I'm sure the sun is shining over there. Sunshine and 24-hour cupcakes. Man, LA has everything now.
