revenge scandalDid you freakin' see that last scene? AGHH! (That's me screaming silently.) We finally see who shot Tyler -- what is the plural for that?!? But I'll say no more for those of you who haven't seen this week's episode yet.

"Scandal" was all about forced alliances, conflicting loyalties, and simmering class warfare. And that bombshell at the end has my head spinning. Even juicier, we finally see the cracks forming below Emily's serene, controlled surface! I'll give you my usual spoiler alert. Read this after you've seen the episode.

Class warfare played a major role this time. It's been lingering in the background all along -- we've heard Ashley complain about the advantages of the wealthy, and we all know Tyler had some resentments, too. But now Daniel's lawyer comes out and says it -- in "this political climate" people are out for the blood of the 1%. No one wants to see the Hamptons' royalty get any special privileges.

So we shouldn't be surprised when the judge denies Daniel bail and remands him to maximum security at Rikers. Harsh! And we shouldn't be surprised to find out Ashley is hatching her own plans to play the scandal to her advantage.

Meanwhile, we see forced alliances and conflicting loyalties: Victoria is now Emily closer into the Graysons fold (what???). The remaining Graysons are all stuck under the same roof with each other. Declan has discovered Jack's blood-stained hoodie and has vowed to "protect" his big brother. Jack can't leave (even though he should!). And scariest of all -- on the night of the murder, Emily's sensei Takada tells her she has to choose between the two boys she cares for. She can't save both! Who will she choose?

Save Jack, Emily. Save Jack!!! It's such a threatening question, we see Emily lose it and get emotional for the first time.

And then finally we find out: BOTH Daniel and Takada shot Tyler -- the last scene reveals the struggle on the beach. Yeah, some of you called it on Takada. Technically Takada murdered Tyler. But Daniel isn't exactly innocent. And if he's convicted of Tyler's murder it won't exactly be a wrongful conviction! Should he get off anyway?

Now as an aside, we really do need a weekly section just on Nolan's excellent one-liners. My favorites:

You ever notice how she keeps showing up like the homicidal stripper version of whack-a-mole?

I Shamued it.

It's a little too late to put that back into the infinity box.

God this show is fantastic -- right down to Nolan's yellow sneakers.

Who do you think Emily will try to save, Daniel or Jack? Or do you think she'll try to save both anyway?
