Well that was fast -- Ben & Jerry's just whipped up a new flavor of frozen yogurt inspired by the Taiwanese-American basketball player Jeremy Lin. "Taste the Lin-Sanity" had lychee honey swirls and fortune cookies in vanilla yogurt.

But this was no slam-dunk for our ice cream heroes. There was a backlash due mostly to the fortune cookies, which some people felt perpetuated stereotypes about Asians. Ben & Jerry's apologized via Twitter and swapped those offending fortune cookies for waffle cone bits. But honestly, I think they could do better. Here are some flavor combos I think would really do Jeremy Lin justice.

According to Deadspin, Ben & Jerry's also got it wrong when they threw in that lychee, "which is not the part of Asia that Jeremy Lin comes from. (The part of Asia that Jeremy Lin comes from is Northern California.)" Har har. But really, so many luscious tropical fruit is grown in Taiwan: Papaya, melon, citrus, starfruit -- OMG, starfruit. And Jeremy Lin is a star! Also big in Taiwan: Rice, tea, peanuts, chilies, bubble tea, gelatin-based desserts, and rice flour cakes. And so ...

Candied starfruit with chunks of moon cakes. All authentically Taiwanese, this frozen yogurt (he's an athlete, so I guess we're sticking with the yogurt, huh?) captures the flavors of Lin's ethnic heritage in a vanilla base.

Peanuts and chili swirl in lemon frozen yogurt. Oh yeah, this one's hot, crunchy, and tart. You know all those spicy "Mexican chocolate" ice creams we've been seeing? This takes that idea in a whole new direction.

Tapioca "bubbles" and papaya swirl in green tea frozen yogurt. You know those tapioca balls in bubble tea? Why not put some in some cool, refreshing green tea-flavored yogurt -- which would taste sensational with papaya.

Oh Ben & Jerry, you really should have just called me up when you were working on this Jeremy Lin flavor. I could have saved you from this boring waffle cone froyo. I mean, come on. But I get it -- you're in a time crunch with just seconds of Linsanity left on the clock!

What would you put in your Linsanity froyo?
