It's been a month since the happy day when new royal baby, Charlotte was born. And now we're wondering, when will we see her again, and when will she be christened? The royal family hasn't released a date yet, but we do have a few hints that suggest it may be very soon.
It's very likely that William and Kate will have Charlotte christened in the next month or so. Queen Elizabeth leaves for her summer holiday in Scotland in late July, so they will most likely have the ceremony before then.
What's more, the couple has just a short window of time to baptize Charlotte before the wee babe outgrows the traditional christening robe her big brother George wore. All the royal babies have been using the gown created in 2008, which was designed after the gown commissioned by Queen Victoria in the 19th century and worn by Princes William and Harry (that gown was retired in 2004). We all know how quickly babies grow!
As for where the christening will take place, it could be the same location as Prince George, Chapel Royal. Or it could be at St. Mary Magdelene church at the Queen's Sandringham estate, which is near Will and Kate's country home, Anmer Hall. Prince Willaim's cousin, Princess Eugenie, was christened there.
Regardless of where the ceremony takes place, Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby will lead it. And it will include the silver Lily Font created in 1874 for the christening of Princess Royal Victoria.
Alas, we will not be able to peek into the ceremony. No cameras will be allowed inside, but there surely will be official portraits take of the day. And William and Kate will probably have some family portraits taken for public release in the days leading up to the christening.
If you're hoping to catch a glimpse of Princess Charlotte before then, it looks like her next public appearance -- with mum Kate -- could be as early at Trooping the Color on June 13, the Queen's official birthday.
