How common is cheating? Well, here's one indication. Demand for online adultery dating site Ashley Madison is growing so fast, it's trying for an IPO. And you'll never guess where that growth is coming from.

It's coming from women. That's right -- the site says that female membership is growing 10 percent faster than male membership. Ladies! What's going on? That's rather surprising. The stereotype has long been that it's guys who are most likely to stray, but that doesn't appear to be the case here. That, or there are a lot of single ladies interested in having affairs with married men. But what's the appeal in that?

AshleyMadison.com's core users are between the ages of 30 and 45, and the ratio of men to women for that age group is currently about 50/50. The site charges men for credits, which can be exchanged for introductions to women.

Anyway, in addition to keeping up with demand here, the site wants to expand into more liberal territory, the U.K., Europe, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan.

So good luck to them. After all, Ashley Madison's head of international relations Christoph Kramer claims their services can actually benefit marriages.“We’ve had stories from members that we’ve returned love to the marital bed and made others realize the grass is not greener on the other side,” he tells Bloomberg News. Yeah, right ...

Are you surprised to hear so many women are signing up for this dating website for cheaters?
