fox newsNeed any more evidence that Fox News broadcasts mostly baloney sandwiches disguised as well-informed, "fair and balanced" news analysis? How about an insult straight from the mouth of an insider -- none other than former Fox News analyst Newt Gingrich himself!

In a town hall meeting this week, presidential candidate Newt couldn't resist making a catty little dig at Fox News. When a woman asked him a question about Obama's AIDS policy, Newt said, "One of the real changes that comes when you start running for President -- as opposed to being an analyst on Fox -- is I have to actually know what I'm talking about." DAYUM! No you did NOT, Newt! And the crowd laughed -- nervously, because how much longer can we keep up this charade, pretending Fox News is a reliable source of information?

Seriously. Unconfirmed sources say Megyn Kelly's and Bill O'Reilly's heads mysteriously jerked backward at that very moment, as if slapped by one of their own. No they didn't. I'm making that up. But when a former Fox analyst starts flinging zingers implying that a network's commentators might not actually know what the heck they're talking about, you know the Fox Network Emperor Has No Clothes.

I know what Fox News supporters are going to say: "Oh, like the other network commentators aren't also full of crap!" And that might be fair. But Fox News is starting to be defined by their spin. It's like their signature perfume. Mmmm, Eu de Malarkey! And it looks like viewers are starting to wise up. This fall Fox viewership plummeted by 21 percent -- and lost 26 percent of their "young" viewership! Meanwhile, MSNBC attracted more and younger viewers.

Maybe people are finally getting sick of Fox News's lies ill-informed spin. How much credibility do you have left when even Newt Gingrich mocks you? Or has Fox ever been about credibility? Should we consider it the ax-grinding network? "Unfair Pot-Shots and Dangerously Imbalanced News-Based Ranting for People With Extreme Viewpoints, Like Your Angry Grandpa." Fox, I've got your new tagline here!

What do you think about Newt's dig at Fox? Do you think it damages their credibility?
