Were you hoping to rely on Amy's stuffed pasta shells to feed the family tonight? Well, you may want to re-think that idea. Amy's Kitchen is recalling more than 73,000 cases of its product because of possible listeria contamination. Here are the details you need to know.
One of Amy's organic spinach suppliers notified them that they may have received spinach contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The recall is nation-wide. However, no illnesses linked to the recall have been reported, yet.
Listeria can be fatal to young children, the elderly, and those with compromised immune systems. Symptoms of contamination include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.
This recall comes with a long list, though, so you'll want to look it over carefully and make sure you don't have any of these products in your pantry or freezer. See the Amy's Kitchen recall list on the FDA's website.

If you have any of these items you should throw them out or you may return them to the store where they were purchased for an exchange or full refund. You may also call Amy's at (707) 781-7535 [Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. (Pacific)].
Just a friendly reminder that even organic foods can get contaminated, sometimes.
