butcher cutting meatYou've tenderized meat before, right? Even if you haven't, you probably know not to do what this restaurant worker was caught doing. Seriously, you've got to see what this guy was doing with uncooked meat -- in broad daylight, mind you, in full view of the public. You're not going to believe your eyes.

The cook was tenderizing meat on a street sidewalk -- and I don't just mean while standing on the sidewalk. He was actually banging a frozen side of pork (or something) right on the filthy pavement outside the back door to a restaurant.

Did I mention this sidewalk had not been cleaned since, well, EVER?

If you're like me, you probably want to know the name of the restaurant and the city, pronto, so here it is: Lucky River in San Francisco. Phew! Big sigh of relief from all of us who are quite sure we have never, ever eaten at that restaurant. Uneasy "hmm" from those of us who recently ate at a restaurant, which may have been Lucky River, we can't remember the name exactly, while on vacation in San Francisco.

And the few of you who think you may have once eaten at Lucky River are probably feeling a little bit queasy. The owner claims this was an isolated incident and that the meat was thrown out. Sure it was.

Anyway, I refuse to believe this cook just didn't know better. In this day and age, I think we all know about dirt and bacteria and food poisoning. Not to mention, we've all noticed how filthy a city sidewalk can get. My hunch is he just did not give a crap. He had a job to do, and this was the easiest way to do it, and maybe not too many people would get sick but who the hell cares, really.

Thank goodness he was caught on camera and the video went viral. I can't imagine that many people would want to eat out there now. According to this news report, the place is still open, and it still has diners. Maybe they don't know, or maybe they're all dining daredevils. Good luck to them, in any case!

What do you think this restaurant worker was thinking, flogging the sidewalk with a side of pork?
