ellen degeneresOh you One Million Moms, don't you know your hate just makes Ellen stronger? I thought it was crazy when I first heard of the bigotry-fueled group trying to boycott JCPenney because Ellen DeGeneres is their new spokeswoman. And clearly I wasn't the only one. Even conservative Fox News pundit Bill O'Reilly is "standing up" for Ellen. Wait until you read what he said in her defense.

And wait until you hear Ellen's own response. On her show she gave a shout-out to Prop 8 being ruled unconstitutional. And then she talked about what the One Million Moms campaign meant to her -- and what kinds of "traditional" values she stands for. It's classic Ellen, and it shows why this woman is just too gracious and charming for anyone to truly hate.

Bill O'Reilly compared the One Million Moms' anti-Ellen campaign to the communist blacklist of the 1950s McCarthy era. Yikes! And he said firing her because she's gay is just plain wrong. AS WELL HE SHOULD. He points out that liberals are always after Fox News to fire him for his controversial views. O'Reilly works for the "entertainment" division of Fox News, so he's kind of in the same professional boat as Ellen. He's just not as funny. So his defense of her is a smart move.

But Ellen's defense of herself is the real gem. Check it out.

See this video on The Stir by CafeMom.

I just love that she keeps her sunny sense of humor. Even when she's being defiant, she's funny: "My haters are my motivators!" That bit about needing some crew socks, so "I'm really going to clean up with this discount" as a JCPenney's employee was cute. And so true, if you want to complain about bad spokespeople, you really do have to question the wisdom of the Pillsbury Doughboy, running around "without any pants on, basically begging people to poke his belly. What kind of message is that?"

So it's no surprise that people have been posting comments IN SUPPORT of Ellen and JCPenney on One Million Moms' Facebook page. This is an example of Ellen's haters making her stronger. Ellen gives out a lot of positivity, and it all comes right back at her in the form of support from her fans. It was a classy move for her to thank her supporters on the show, but that's just what Ellen would do.

The very best part is when she ends with a list of her values. They're the kind of values I think more of us should adopt. "Honesty, equality, kindness, compassion, treating people the way you want to be treated, and helping people in need. To me those are traditional values, and that is what I stand for." Also -- Ellen believes in dancing. But we already knew that. That's why we love her.

What did you think of Ellen's response to One Million Moms?
