phamShe didn't even want to go out that night. Twenty-three-year-old California woman Kim Pham died after a brutal beating outside an Orange County nightclub. Saturday night Pham texted friends to hang out at her apartment. But her friends convinced her to go out with them instead. Much later that night, Pham and her friends were outside a Santa Ana club when a fight broke out. Pham was not the type to get into a fight, but she was pulled into the altercation and was severely beaten. Police found her unconscious and in a coma. Tuesday night her family took her off life support and she died.

It's a mystery how Pham got involved in the fight that ended her life. One witness says she may have accidentally walked in front of a group of people posing for a photo. But from all reports it sounds like she was the last person who would involve herself in a public argument.

Friends and family describe her as a sweet young woman with a big heart who loved to write and dreamed of becoming a talk show host. She was a recent college graduate. Pham's uncle, Erik Doan, says, "She had so much to give back, so much to experience. And it was cut so short."

"She had such a big heart. She was always putting herself out there -- ready to cheer you up -- whenever and wherever you needed it," said high school friend Tiffany Bui.

It sounds like the fight was mainly between Pham's friends and a group of people they didn't know. Pham was hit and stomped on the ground. Police have arrested one woman and are searching for four others in connection to the incident.

It's scary to think that something like this could happen to an innocent bystander. Imagine, going out with your friends -- and you never make it home. I think we've all seen people getting aggressive after a night out. We all know it happens, but who expects to die in a fight? That's not a fear people should have to face when they go out. Pham wasn't looking for trouble.

Meanwhile, Pham left one last gift behind. Her family just discovered that she was an organ donor. At least something good may have come out of this terrible incident.

How safe do you feel when you're out very late with friends?
