wedding ringWhen it comes to the world of crime, petty theft isn't as horrible as most. Unless you do it this way: Two men were arrested for stealing a wedding ring from a dying woman. For real. Mom of two Danielle Zimmerman suffered a brain aneurysm at a fast food drive-through and crashed into the speaker box. Fortunately, a few good people came to her aid -- but her wedding ring was stolen along with her purse. Who does that?!?

Zimmerman's purse was later recovered, minus her iPhone, some credit cards, and about $150 in cash. At least the thief or thieves left her family photos. But it's that ring theft that really stung her husband, Kris Zimmerman. "What really hurt the most. What really appalled me -- the wedding ring. How could you take somebody’s wedding ring off their finger? Instead of trying to help her, somebody robbed her.

What a heartless move. There's a woman on the brink of death, and what do you do? Wrench her wedding ring off her finger. What kind of mental or emotional state do you have to be in to do that? It makes me wonder if they were on drugs at the time, just because pulling that kind of crime off while sober seems nearly inhuman.

Two 19-year-old men have been arrested as suspects: Daquantrius Shaquill Johnson and Quanique Dontrell Thomas-Hameen. They face other robbery charges. We will see if they're also responsible for this crime.

Meanwhile, Kris doesn't have this one, special memento of his late wife. Obviously it's far more tragic that his wife died that night. But the robbery just makes the incident more painful for him. Theft is always a thoughtless, selfish act. But this case goes beyond that.

Do you think the thief or thieves were on drugs or just heartless?
