In her latest mommy vlog, Kourtney talks with us about "Making Time for Mason." Oh sweet Kourtney, trying to talk about the work/family balance in a relatable way. Bless her privileged, pampered heart -- it's in the right place. Did you know that there are all kinds of moms? Professional moms, stay-at-home moms, part-time moms, moms who juggle jungle cats, moms who travel to the moon, moms in pink and yellow Pucci. Like, all kinds.
And Kourtney wants to make it clear that she's totally okay with all these moms. She doesn't want to start a mommy war like the one Anderson Cooper just lit yesterday (dude, how long have you been on TV?). She is so not judgy! Love her! Sigh ... but if only her advice were actually useful to us.
Okay, so nothing against type-A moms, but Kourtney identifies herself as a calm, go-with-the-flow kind of mom: "I don't have a crazy strict schedule. That's what works for me and my family." (Yeah, that would work for me and my family, too, if we were loaded.) And Kourtney even struggles with the same mommy guilt many of us other moms deal with when she works.
So what's her strategy? Servants. She schedules as many of her meetings as possible to take place at her house, of course. And that's a great idea. I should do that, too! Thanks for the suggestion, Kourt! Hey, Stir staff, just a heads-up: From now on you'll all be trekking out to Brooklyn for our staff meetings. Because that's what works best for me and my family. Sweet!
Okay, so that problem's solved. Strategy #2 is: Work during nap-time. OMG, that's brilliant! Parents have only been doing that since the dawn of the human race! AND YET, it never quite works as well as you'd like it to. Doesn't it always seem like those days when you've got a time-sensitive project are the days when your kid just won't nap? Oh well, don't let it trouble your pajama-clad self, Kourtney. Yes, we noticed -- you're working in your pajamas. Not judging you! Just a wee bit jealous.
