Clik here to view.Another teenage boy has been arrested in connection with the murder of his siblings. Today Salt Lake City, Utah police arrested a 15-year-old boy in connection to the deaths of his two brothers, ages 4 and 10. The boys are believed to have died of knife wounds. Their bodies were found in their home on Wednesday night. Their mother had left them in the care of their older brother while she took her other children to a dance recital. When she returned, she found the 4-year-old's body and called 911. The 10-year-old was found after a search. And the 15-year-old was found and arrested just before midnight.
We don't know much about this teenager at this point. Police are not releasing his name, of course. He's been taken to a hospital for a mental evaluation. What caused him to snap -- if he really is the one who murdered his brothers?
It's been less than a month after Leila Fowler was found stabbed and just two weeks after her 12-year-old brother was arrested in connection. Another older sibling babysitting, another murder. It's eerie that both incidents happened so close together.
It just happens that the father of this Utah family is in the military and has been deployed in another state for some time. This means the mother has been home alone with at least five kids (possibly more). And while obviously thousands of families deal with a deployed spouse and manage just fine, you have to wonder what kind of pressure was on this family. I am in no way blaming the murders on the father's deployment. It takes a LOT more than a deployment for something this awful to happen. I'm sure there were many factors that built up, leading to these shocking murders.
Meanwhile, I feel for both parents and their other children, who must all be reeling with pain right now.
What do you think causes teenagers to commit this kind of violence?
